Catalan/Català

The next language I'm going to learn is going to be Catalan (Català), which is the mother tongue of my partner. I've already had much exposure to the language, and as I already speak Spanish and did a three month course in Catalan at university, I do not expect it to present too many difficulties. Indeed, it's odd starting a language that you can already read and understand quite well - it doesn't seem the same as starting something from scratch. However, to ensure that I understand everything and do not leave any gaps in my knowledge, I'm going to start right from the beginning, with the 'Teach Yourself Catalan' book and CD which I bought while doing the course at university. I hope to go through it this autumn and make progress steadily up to Christmas, wherein I will move onto intermediate and advanced Catalan.

It's a lovely language, really melodic and soft. I've listened to it a lot, travelled through Catalonia and really want to be able to enjoy it and speak it better. So here goes!

Adéu!
