Wallander

Last night I watched the penultimate episode of the Wallander series being shown on BBC4. It's in Swedish, with English subtitles and has completely drawn me in. Krister Henriksson is perfect in the role of Kurt, with a slow and steady style - a counterpoint to his impetuous cadets. And his house down by the sea? How could anyone not want that! What has been really useful though is listening to the dialogue and picking out the verbs, phrases and words that I can. I have studied Swedish for three months now and it's really gratifying to see that I can pick up quite a lot already. It's such a beautiful language, it seems so rich, subtle and melodious. Much like the cinematography involved in the series, which I have been really impressed with. It's like the BBC, or dare I say, bÀttre?
